![]() When there’s no front fee, the seller can list the item for a crazy amount safely, and after some inflation, eventually there will be this one fool to buy the item and set the precedent for the price to become that high. Meaning, if someone is listing an item for a crazy amount and he’s paying 5-10% upfront tax for listing the item, and the item does not sell in two days, he’ll be at a loss and he’ll eventually rethink his price. Typically front tax or listing fee would be a good mechanism to prevent crazy prices of items. My memory is not as good as it was, but I believe this had something to do with RMAH and the changes were made for RMAH to be approved by some country, I don’t know, I don’t remember. I believe this was a result of Blizzard’s decision to remove front taxes prior to release. The problem with D3 auction houses, especially the gold auction house was, that there were no front taxes. We now have demands for Solo Self Found modes in D2R, instead of a desire for the core problem to be understood and potentially solved. Those three statements are true, and require some explanation:ĭ4 not having trading is what I’d argue is the sad result of the fact, that the trading and the way it was implemented in the previous games has not been properly understood and analyzed. D3 implemented trading in a terrible way, that lead many players to believe, that trading is bad altogether.ĭ2 trading is also not perfect, especially when 3rd party sites have great influence over the ecomomy (no, it’s not so much a thread about JSP, but rather about the newer sites such as tradierie).
